Smarter Budgeting – Coming SOON!

I recently told you about the money management software I’m creating.

Well, I’ve decided that the application will live here, on Oh Crap, I’m Broke! What better platform than the site where you come for advice on budgeting, money management and advice for getting money in your pocket. I’m telling you friends, this application is going to revolutionize the way you budget.

It is going to supercharge your wallet, motivate you in ways you never knew possible and get you on track to a new financial future! And the best part, you’ll be able to SEE that future through the power of forecasting.

Better Budgeting Through Cash Flow Forecasting/Projection

One thing that I can’t stand about budget software is the categories. They import your transactions and try to automatically categorize all of your transactions. And it doesn’t work! There are too many categories, too many transactions and it’s just all too complicated. Ultimately, you achieve nothing at the end of the month and you STILL don’t know where your money goes.

I’ve started creating my own budget software that uses data that you already know to forecast your bank account balances at any given point in time. I find that this method helps you be more proactive about your expenses because you immediately see the impact of your financial decisions on your financial health.

Budget Setup

My goal is to make setup EASY. Nothing complicated. Just setup your bills and roll. Check this image for an example of how this will work:

Budget Forecasting

This is where every modern budgeting software fails miserably. They don’t let you see what’s coming, how it’s coming and how it will affect your financial situation. Sometimes you need to look to the future in order to fix the present.

The application is still in the works, but I’m working on it daily. So I hope to be done very soon. I encourage you to sign up for updates for the world’s only honest budgeting system.

Which Budget Method do You Use?

I’m very curious what method of budgeting you use. Please let me know by answering this poll and even expanding upon your answer in the comment section. You can select as many answers as you please.

Edit: The reason I’m asking is because I’m working on a cash flow forecasting budget system called Plan Your Dollars. Check it out and sign up for development updates!
